Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area Bike Trip

August 2- 9:00 am

 

Our pack Bike Trip will be August 2, 2008 and we have added a new aspect this year- Locomotion!

This is a FAMILY event and all Pack 101 Family members – Scouts, Parents, Siblings, Grandparents, etc are encouraged to participate.

The Pack bike trip to the Towpath in Peninsula, Ohio has proven to be one of our most popular events throughout the year.  This year we have added a new feature to the trip-  Instead of biking 6 miles north and then backtracking 6 miles south- we have decided to catch a train at the Peninsula Station (along with our bicycles) and take it north to the Canal Visitors Center miles and then bike back 13 miles.  This way- we get to see part of the trail that many of us haven’t and we also get a neat train ride.

 If you haven’t ever been on our trip or to the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area- you will be in for a treat!  The trail features historic buildings, Museums, and several abandon Canal Locks that were used during the 1800’s to transfer goods from Northern Ohio to Southern Ohio and beyond. 

Things to Bring:

  • Bike
  • HELMET!
  • Sunscreen
  • Rain Gear
  • $2 per cyclist for the train
  • A Brown Bag Trail Lunch
  • Water to re-hydrate

A group of us usually stops into the “Winking Lizard” Restaurant in Peninsula after the trip- this is optional but if you go- plan on bringing some cash for your meal.

We’ll depart from Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:00 am.

Please let your Den leaders know ASAP if and how many from your family is planning on participating in this Great Event.

Don’t forget:

·         Participants are to bring sack lunches which will be eaten before our return bike trip to the cars.


·         You should also bring $12 for this event. $2 will pay for their train ride and $10 for dinner at the Winking Lizard if you choose to go.
